September always feels like a fresh start to me. Perhaps, it is the back-to-school routine or the subtle change in the weather and length of sunlight in our days, but I always feel ready to try something new.

I recently completed a large art installation, which was a departure from how I typically work. I started with many monoprints, created with layers of acrylic paint and a hand-cut stencil. Once those were hand printed, I tore them apart, and reassembled them into a new form – a large installation. I hand sewed the pieces back together and hung each column of the artwork by fishing line. The process began to feel a bit tedious, but I’m so glad I finished the piece. This piece, titled “How will you fill-in-the-blank today?”, will make its debut as part of “Montpelier Printmakers – The World As We View It”, a group art show that opened on September 8 at Glenview Mansion Art Gallery in Rockville, MD. I am so grateful to have my work shown alongside several of my printmaking peers, who I look to for inspiration and guidance in my own art practice.
